Who can apply for Erasmus+?
All those who are regularly enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Courses at the University of Tor Vergata may apply, provided that they meet the CFU requirements established by the University. Precautionary students (iscrizione in via cautelativa) are excluded.
-
When is the Erasmus+ Call out?
The Erasmus+ Call for study is generally out in January, with possible variations from year to year. Once the Call opens, students have one month to apply.
-
From which year of enrollment (freshmen/senior/etc.) is it possible to apply?
There are no restrictions on submitting an application, but it must be borne in mind that only exams taken no later than 31 December of the current academic year are took into account for the rankings (e.g. for the Erasmus+ Call 2025/2026, grades taken no later than 31 December 2024 will be taken into account for the merit ranking). For first year students only (Bachelor or Master freshmen) the commission will take into account also grades taken within the Winter Examination Session of current academic year.
-
How much is the Erasmus+ mobility grant?
The European Commission has established that the mobility grant is modulated according to the country of destination; there are three groups, based on the cost of living (e.g. for countries in group 2 with a medium cost of living, such as Spain, €300.00/month is provided). The EU contribution may also be supplemented with funds provided by the MUR, defined with reference to the economic condition resulting from the ISEE certificate.
-
How many CFUs must be accrued during the mobility?
It is necessary to accrue a minimum of 12 CFUs per semester. For whole-academic year mobility, a total of 24 CFUs must therefore be accrued.
-
Where tuition fees are paid?
Tuition fees must be regularly paid to Tor Vergata, not to the Host University.
-
How to find a good and affordable accomodation abroad?
Getting in touch with Host University is always recommended, in addittion to ask for help to local Erasmus+ associations but: also these could come in handy:
> Specialised networks such as ErasmusU and HousingAnywhere;
> Groups on Facebook, or forums online where fellow Erasmus+ students share news and hints;
> Associations like ESN, which can always help with good pointers.
-
Is an international health insurance necessary?
If you travel to Europe, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) covers most medically necessary (and therefore not only urgent) treatment.
-
How is the cost of living on mobility?
The cost of living depends on the city. In Western Europe (e.g. Paris, Madrid) it could be between 1000 and 1500 euros per month, while in Eastern European cities such as Budapest or Warsaw it can be around 600 to 1000 euros per month.
-
Is the grant enough to cover all costs?
It depends on the destination and the cost of living. The grant may not cover all expenses and an additional personal budget may be necessary.
-
How foreign exams compatible with my Study Plan are chosen?
The course offerd at Partner Universities will not always 100% correspond to those of Tor Vergata, so it is necessary to choose courses that are as similar as possible to the exam you want to have recognised at Tor Vergata, always referring to your Erasmus+ Delegate.
-
How do I deal with the discrepancy in CFUs between the exams in my Study Plan and those to be taken at the Host University?
It is very common for Partner Universities to offer courses for e.g. 3 CFUs. If you wish to apply for recognition of a 12 CFUs exam from your Study Plan, you will need to reach the total number of credits by adding courses at the Host University. E.g. for an Italian exam of 12 CFUs it will be necessary to add four foreign exams of 3 CFUs. In any case, it is required that the student accrues at least 2/3 of the ECTS-CFUs for each specific course attended. It is, as always, necessary for the Erasmus+ Delegate to review and approve the choices made.
-
How does the grading system work at Partner Universities?
In order to find out how much a grade taken on mobility is worth, please refer to the Conversion Tables on the After the Return page, under EXAM RECOGNITION.
